1Did you know that the flagship stadium for World Cup South Africa is shaped like a bowl? Known in Johannesburg as Soccer City, this massive stadium is designed to resemble a traditional African calabash (or bowl which is commonly used as drinking vessel) that can fit up to 100,000 spectators! When lit up at night, not only will it look like a bowl, but the windows that let out light will recreate the African night sky. [FIFA.com]

Mrs. Obama put out a call for chefs to become involved by adopting a school and working to educate children about food and nutrition. Chefs are encouraged to perform cooking demonstrations and collaborate on integrating food education into school curriculums. How great is this!? What a positive initiative that will help curb a population on the brink of obesity suicide, tackling health at the root of the problem and easing the already inflated US health care budget. I’m so happy with Obama’s administration, getting things done and taking action at the root of the problem instead of temporary fixes. Think the new NASA plan, the war in Afghanistan, healthcare! But I guess that’s just a matter of opinion, what do I know. Continue Reading →
